corn_thumbnailSince 2003, this has been an annual, one evening, event that is a combined effort between the St John Chamber and the Schererville Rotary Club. It is held at the Community Outpatient Center (outdoors). It is planned by a small joint committee over several months prior to the event and requires many volunteers, as well as community business involvement. The corn is provided by local farmers & pre-cooked the day of the event at Comfort’s Catering, the many miscellaneous food and paper items are supplied by Strack & Van Til. Hotdogs are provided by Strack & VanTil and the Polish Sausage is grilled on site by Welch’s Stop & Shop. Eenigenberg supplies bottled water. Proceeds are split between both organizations. The Chamber proceeds benefit the scholarship fund. It has been very well received by the community, offering food, socializing, live entertainment, children’s activities, as well as booths operated by local businesses and organizations.

golf_outingThe annual golf outing will be held in July at a local golf course in the area. Participants receive a cart, 18-holes of championship golf and a catered lunch and dinner. There are also opportunities to win raffle prizes, skill competitions and more. Golf usually begins at 12:00 (noon) and is followed by dinner. The Chamber is always looking for businesses not only to participate in a fun day of golf, but also for door prize donations, hole sponsors and more. For those who don’t wish to play golf, simply sign up for dinner and network with other local businesses. The golf outing is a great event, don’t miss out!
